In journalism that is looking for truth, justice, equality, and that in covering wars and conflicts is looking not for sensation, but for human destiny and possible ways of peace keeping and peace communication. Women reporters work a lot on this peace communication, in all countries of the globe. And we decided to start our discussion sharing reports and analyses of women journalists' experiences. And we hope that this experience of peace communication can help us to overcome hate speech which is so well spread in the media, and create a new language in the media that we need, a language of the future.

TV presenter Alexander Gordon loses lawsuit against feminist expert and opens himself up to accusations of misogynistic extremism

TV presenter Alexander Gordon loses lawsuit against feminist expert and opens himself up to accusations of misogynistic extremismAlexander Gordon, presenter of the TV show “Male/Female” on Channel One, has lost his lawsuit against human women rights activist Aliona Popova, reports Ridus, an Agency for Civic Journalism.[1]

Gordon tried to sue Popova for publishing details of an incident from the TV show on her Facebook page. On the show in question, Gordon blamed domestic violence on the victim who had been invited onto the show to tell her story.  Popova protested and Gordon dismissed them both as ‘fools’.

Popova claimed she was going to bring Gordon to justice, but he responded in the media that she should prove in court that she was not a fool. In addition, he took legal action to claim 800 thousand rubles from Popova as compensation for defamation of character. However, his action failed.

Meanwhile Aliona Popova and the lawyer Oksana Mihkalkina have applied to the institute of criminal proceedings to prosecute him for misogynistic extremism and for hate speech against women (defined as a social group) under the law against extremism.

This is the first case wherein women’s human rights activists have tried to bring a male chauvinist to justice as an extremist.
